3 Different types of magazines - Backgrounds
1. Total Film
- faded background / snowy scenery
- dull colours, with use of a slight close up shot of a sunrise
- main background is white, with the shot of the sunrise on top of the white
- a gold band to contrast with the other gold headings , and relating to the advertising film, Golden compass
2. Closer - Simple fushia background
- highlighting things in yellow
- all words have a background box on them, to highlight them and make them eye catching.
3. Xbox 360 - white, lime green and grey
- dull snowery scenery
- advertising new call of dutry 4 game, so the magazine is contrasting the dullness in the aid of war
- 1 dominant figure on the page
then a figure to the left, in the rear background
Mastheads
1. total film - Bold white lettering
Total situated into the F
- is overlapped into it
2. Closer - white with a 3d effect
noticeable - but not eye catching
Main cover line overlapping it
- contrast goes well with pink background
3. XBox 360 - capitals in green
360 in grey
on a white background so shows up clearly also an xbox icon - advertising
All three mastheads that i looked at were centre/top, so there was no variety in sense.

Research On Existing Products
Research for Magazines
- atleast 3 different types of magazines, not just music mags.
- Who, What, When, Why, Where, How
- Back Up plan - for the location, lighting, equipment
- Colour Schemes - colours to attract, postive, negative bright, eye catching
- shot lists
- Layouts - Where the pics fit, size and boldness - maybe a storyboard
- Existing Text - Text analysis
- Headings - where, why, how and when
On A Usual Magazine Cover :
- MastHead Logo
- Date Line
- Main Image
- Model Credit
- Cover lines
- Main cover line
- Left third
- Bar code
- Selling line
i need to think about these things for my magazine cover, to make it look proffessional and up to date.
i could include a freebie with my magazine, to advertise my magazine, and make the magazine worthwhile reading to my generation e.g teenagers.
Should include :
A website
A date & Price - date line
and maybe the month according too
Questionnaire/ Interview
- Age
- Gender
- Types of music
- When the magazine is usually read
- Why
- What makes them read it - free stuff - information - views/ opinions - fun
